Neil Brown Jr. Vow Renewal at Newhall Mansion

July 9, 2019

In 2018 Neil Brown Jr. proposed to his wife Catrina Robinson Brown, again! The couple has been married since the year 2000, but Neil wanted to give her the wedding of her dreams. You may know Neil as DJ Yella in Straight Outta Compton, and he currently plays Chad in Insecure and Ray Perry on Seal Team. Clearly, he knows how to set the scene!

For his romantic proposal, he flew Catrina’s family out to Los Angeles for their son’s high school graduation. He told People magazine, “My wife never got the proposal, wedding or honeymoon that she deserved. We were so young, had no money and spent our wedding night in the hospital. I always wanted to do it the right way. I prayed for guidance.”

The Big Day

In May 2019, we helped this loving couple bring their dream wedding to life! The vow renewal took place at Newhall Mansion in Piru, California. Notably, the mansion has a Victorian flare, gorgeous courtyards and was the perfect place for Catrina and Neil. Luckily, Sposto Photography was there to capture the details, and Posh Peony was there to design the flowers! The aisle was lined with white roses and greenery. Also, Catrina’s bouquet was mainly white and ivory garden roses, hydrangeas and baby’s breath.

Catrina told People Magazine, “Neil made my wedding day unbelievably amazing. My father finally got to walk me down the aisle and give me away to the most loving, caring, giving, smart, handsome man in my world!”

And the ring was spectacular! Neil Brown Jr. said, “I had spent months designing a custom engagement ring for her, engraved with our special quote, seeing it for the first time in person the night I slipped it on her finger.”

Neil Brown Jr Says Thank You

Neil recently tweeted this: “Thank you to everyone who made this day special for us and thank you @EBONYMag for continuing to share our love story!”

What do you think of their big day?
