Romantic Southern California Botanical Garden Wedding At The Historic Rancho Las Lomas Private Estate

October 27, 2021

In this week’s Posh Peony Wedding Feature, we are talking all about a beautiful wedding that took place over in Silverado, CA. Our clients, Laurie & Christopher, tied the knot over at the Rancho Las Lomas Botanical Gardens. This venue is BEAUTIFUL!

Though we may be a little biased (since we are based here in California), we must admit you really cannot beat the weather here. Outdoor weddings are incredibly popular on the west coast! Ceremony settings with the sunny California sunshine are unmatched as the majority of times we never really have to worry about inclement weather conditions. It is both a blessing and a curse however, as the California summers can also be quite the scorcher!

Keep reading as we dive into this week’s romantic wedding feature filled with juliet garden roses, jasmine vine, white anemones, majolica spray roses and so much more!

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

Alright, as always, we HAVE to shed light on the incredible venue that hosted our wonderful couple’s big day! Set in Southern California’s secluded foothills, the Rancho Las Lomas Botanical Gardens is truly a treasure!

Now if you are not familiar with Botanical Gardens, I highly recommend you check one out if you ever have the opportunity. These gardens are equally determined as they are dedicated in their work to preserve, cultivate and collect an enormous amount of plants. These gardens are so unique with all of the educational resources they offer to their visitors.

The lands of Rancho Las Lomas Botanical Garden have quite the history behind them. Purchased by Rick and Jeannie Lawrence around 40 years ago this property is said to have been once owned by coastal Indians. Its grounds house both mature sycamore and oak trees that help to shelter and blanket the estate’s grounds filled with its many gardens and sweet bungalows.

Over time this venue has continually been revamped and updated from its original bones and materials. This private estate is filled with unique touches of recycled materials including windows, doors, bricks and even hand painted tiles. You will find timeless street lamps, unique stained glass windows, custom painted beams that come together to create a lovely environment. This venue is filled with years of history and so much spunk! If a couple is looking to find a venue with character and zest, look no further! This venue is wonderful!

PRO TIP: Find a venue that you love, one that is within your budget, one that meshes well with your wedding style and one that can house your desired amount of people comfortably.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BLOOMS

When taking a look at this bouquet your eye is immediately drawn to the bright white anemones with the dark blue centers. You’ll notice this hand-tied bouquet is designed with a nice balance of greenery, color and accents. The draping effect is easily executed using the green jasmine vine. This type of vine is one of our favorites!

Fun Fact: This vine can be found in many backyards here in Southern California! (It’s not too hard to find but it can be pricey!)

The garden roses serve as a great filler and base flower which help draw your eye to different accents and textures throughout the bouquet. When we design our bouquets we focus on movement, balance, texture and body. We never want our bouquets to fall flat, clash or lack that luxury feel. Notice how our groom’s boutonniere blends so perfectly with the bridal bouquet?! Little touches of navy, greenery and cream! Small details go a long way! We intentionally design these little wedding flower personals to perfectly enhance and accent the wedding bouquet!
